Neighbours in a quiet suburban street have been left terrified after an alleged late-night firebomb attack set fire to a home.

A 36-year-old man suffered burns to his arms in the attack, which struck the house he was in on Washington Drive in Craigmore in Adelaide’s outer north about 11.40pm on Friday.

A vehicle was heard leaving the scene and South Australian police investigators have seized remnants of a molotov cocktail for forensic examination.

The fire damaged the front window of the house, which was also smashed in.

The man extinguished the fire and paramedics treated him for burns injuries on scene.

He did not require hospitalisation.

“While the investigation is in its early stages, police do not believe this was a random incident,” a police spokesman said.

Neighbour John told Nine News he was left “speechless” by the shocking attack.

“Of course it’s dangerous, a molotov cocktail could burn the whole house down,” he said.

Neighbour Janine Mayes said she was shaken up by the attack.

“Especially going through your bloody front window, no that’s not good,” she said.

A police spokesman confirmed on Sunday morning the investigation into the attack was continuing.
