Police are hunting for an alleged offender after an elderly man was shot while answering a knock at his door.
The 76-year-old victim was shot in the lower body when he opened the front door of his Canterbury Road home in Middle Park around 7.50pm on Thursday.
The male offender fled the scene on foot and was last seen heading towards Albert Park Lake.
The 76-year-old victim was taken to hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.
Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
