A cult-yoghurt sold in major Australian supermarkets has been discontinued due to poor sales.

Chobani confirmed its oat yoghurt, which came in a range of flavours, including vanilla, strawberry, blueberry and mango, had been pulled from shelves.

The bold move comes less than 18 months after the dairy-free range hit shelves, with the brand citing “challenging” markets.

“Like all of our Chobani products, our Oat Yoghurt was delicious and nutritious, but unfortunately not one of our most popular,” Chobani Australia told news.com.au.

“We’re constantly challenging ourselves to innovate and create products that our fans love, so we have decided to delist oat yoghurt from our range, paving the way for exciting new Chobani products.”

Eagle-eyed shoppers had noticed the alternative yoghurt range had disappeared from Coles and Woolworths shelves, taking to social media to share their “disappointment”.

“I regularly bought them, and now there’s nothing that really compares,” one vocal fan shared.

“They were the best, so sad,” another wrote.

As one raged: “They always do this. Find something good and it disappears from the shelves.”

Chobani Australia launched its non-dairy offering in 2021 with a line of alternative milks, before adding a range of oat yoghurts to its suite of products in August 2022.

At the time, the company said it recognised the growing “flexitarian” market, and was motivated to provide these consumers with a greater variety of plant-based food options.

The popular yoghurt brand said it also saw it as an opportunity to diversify the dairy-free yoghurt category, “currently dominated by high fat, strong tasting coconut yoghurt options”.
