Police have issued an urgent warning Widgee locals after a 15-year-old boy was reported missing, with fears he may be lost or injured in dense bushland.
The Queensland teenager, who has not been named, was last seen by his family in Biloela, and a friend in Kilkivan on July 26.
Authorities believe the teenager went missing around the Wrattens Forrest area of Widgee. The dense bushland is in the Gympie region of Queensland, and about 103km from the Sunshine Coast.
Queensland Police say he was last seen wearing a black hoodie, cream shorts, a dark green cap and red, white and black Nike shoes. A large-scale search and rescue operation involving local police, SES officers and a rescue helicopter, has been initiated.
Residents and local property owners have also been asked to check their surrounding areas for signs of the teenager.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Policelink, Crime Stoppers, or through 1800 333 000.
