Police have started a murder investigation after a man died outside a pub on the Gold Coast late on Thursday night.
A 26-year-old man from Nerang, west of Surfers Paradise, died at 11pm at Gold Coast University Hospital.
He had reportedly been in an altercation with another main outside a pub on Markeri Street, in Robina, at about 10.15pm.
The Gold Coast Bulletin has reported that the incident occurred at RQ’s Tavern. Pub owner McGuire’s describes RQ’s as “contemporary styled venue” with “friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere”.
Queensland Police said the other man allegedly fled the scene.
A 26-year-old was later taken into custody from an address in Mermaid Beach, south of Broadbeach, at 2am on Friday.
“A crime scene has been declared and the 26-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
Police have asked for any witnesses to contact them and have also appealed for any footage of the incident.
