A woman’s been killed after being hit by a truck in Central West New South Wales.
The 68-year-old had just gotten out of her car after parking along Bowen St in Sofala, about 45km north of Bathurst and 255km northwest of Sydney, about 8am Saturday when she was struck by a Mitsubishi truck.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and State Emergency Service volunteers on duty at a nearby festival managed to rush to the woman’s aid.
They performed CPR until police and ambulance paramedics arrived, but she died at the scene.
Police established a crime scene and gathered forensic evidence. They’ve launched an investigation, and will prepare a report for the coroner.
The truck driver, a 72-year-old man, was taken to Bathurst Base Hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
