A woman has died after an alleged stabbing in Sydney’s west.

Paramedics rushed to the scene at about 6.45am on Wednesday after reports a woman was stabbed on Edmondson Avenue in St Mary’s.

Upon arrival, they found her suffering from stab wounds to the chest.

They worked to treat her but she died at the scene.

She has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 30s.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at Campbelltown Police Station about 7.30am following police inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
