Heavy traffic is building on a major Sydney road after multi-car pileup before peak hour.

About 7am on Monday, emergency services were called to the westbound lane of the M4 Motorway at Greystanes following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Police attended the scene were they located five vehicles involved in the crash.

A man in his 30s was treated by paramedics for a minor neck injury.

Two of three westbound lanes remain closed at Beresford Rd, causing major delays for peak hour traffic.

Heavy traffic is building with aerial photographs showing traffic piling up on the M4 from Granville to Minchinbury.
